Functional Fillers for Superior Finishes
Overview
Mineral fillers—known in the industry as extender pigments—are indispensable in paint and coatings formulations. They reduce cost by extending expensive TiO₂, improve application properties, enhance durability, and provide specific functional benefits including anti-corrosion protection, controlled texture, and hiding power. The right mineral selection is the difference between a good coating and a great one.
What We Supply
Purpose-selected minerals that deliver measurable performance in coating formulations.
Paint Grade
Premier extender pigment with lamellar (plate-like) particle shape that provides exceptional barrier properties against moisture and chemicals. Functions as an anti-settling agent preventing pigment sedimentation and as a flatting agent for matt and satin finishes. Improves paint film integrity and crack resistance.
China Clay
Effective TiO₂ extender that reduces formulation cost by 15–25% while maintaining hiding power. Provides film reinforcement and consistent rheology. Calcined kaolin available for premium applications demanding higher brightness and opacity.
White Quartz • SiO₂ >98%
Provides granular effects in texture and decorative coatings. Delivers hardness and abrasion resistance to paint films. Essential in anti-corrosion primers and powder coatings where mechanical durability is paramount.
Acicular Reinforcement
Acicular particles bridge micro-cracks in paint films, delivering excellent corrosion resistance in primers. Improves scrub resistance and provides pH buffering in waterborne systems, making it ideal for modern low-VOC formulations.
Precipitated Calcium Carbonate
Provides controlled matt finish in emulsion paints and functions as a rheology modifier improving paint flow and application. Widely used as a filler in putty and wall compounds. Available in fine particle sizes for smooth, uniform finishes.
Applications
Talc and kaolin in interior and exterior emulsions. These extender pigments reduce TiO₂ demand, improve film build, and deliver the hiding power and durability that decorative paints require.
Wollastonite in anti-corrosion primers for structural steel, pipelines, and heavy equipment. Acicular particles reinforce the film and provide long-term barrier protection in harsh environments.
Quartz in textured paints and designer wall finishes. Controlled particle size and shape create the granular, sand-like, and stone-effect textures that architects and designers specify.
Talc in primers and sealers for wood substrates. Lamellar particles create effective barrier layers that control moisture ingress and improve adhesion of topcoats.
Quartz and talc as functional fillers in electrostatically applied powder coatings. Provide flow control, texture modification, and mechanical reinforcement in the cured film.
Quality Assurance
Every batch is tested against the parameters that coating formulators care about most.
Our team can recommend the right mineral grade, particle size, and loading level for your specific coating system.
